Astha and Pradeep are a husband and wife Dhrupad vocal duo of the Dagar tradition. They have performed their Dhrupad-Jugalbandi in various prestigious music festivals across India and have appeared on television and radio on many occasions. Both Astha and Pradeep have received Junior Fellowships from CCRT and are ‘A’ grade artists of Prasar Bharati (AIR) Radio and Doordarshan. Their gurukul Dhrupad Dhara provides online and face to face Dhrupad education in the Guru-disciple tradition. Their disciples include many locals and foreigners alike.
Astha-Pradeep started their initial training in Indian classical music with Pt. Chandrashekhar Tiwari and Pt. Chandrashekhar Khanwalkar.
Their keen interest in Indian classical music led them towards Dhrupad music, which is considered to be the purest form of the Indian classical music. They pursued their advanced Dhrupad vocal training with the famous Indian Dhrupad vocalist Padmashree Gundecha Brothers in the Guru-shishya tradition.
